Dr. Ir. Daan Vreugdenhil, oversees the strategic planning, development, and implementation of global conservation initiatives. Collaborates with international partners, manages project budgets, and ensures program alignment with the organization's goals. Provides leadership to conservation teams and serves as a key spokesperson for conservation issues. Daan has worked for 30 years in planning and management of natural resources of temperate and tropical terrestrial and aquatic environments. His career took him across 5 continents, while dealing with dry and humid tropical as well as temperate ecosystems. His background includes vegetation and animal ecology as well as natural resources and national parks management.

Our Journey
The World Institute of Conservation and Environment (“WICE”) was founded in 1989 in the Netherlands by Dr. Daan Vreugdenhil as a mission-driven organization advancing sustainable growth and environmental stewardship.
Over the decades it built deep expertise and relationships across the sectors that drive global economic growth, working alongside governments, multilateral institutions, and partner organizations.
In 2026 the World Institute of Conservation and Environment (“WICE”) was acquired and absorbed into WICE Corporation, expanding its original conservation and environmental expertise into a broader global consulting platform spanning health, food systems, energy, finance, economic growth, and other technical sectors. With offices and operations around the world, WICE Corporation brings together leading technical experts, local knowledge, institutional relationships, and in-country delivery capacity to help governments, development institutions, and private-sector partners design, finance, and execute complex programs at scale.
WICE bridges that gap. Rather than building capability from scratch, the firm draws on its established global network of 160+ senior professionals — many of whom held leadership roles across government, federal, and multilateral institutions, and in private-sector initiatives. This network spans 100+ countries and carries deep institutional knowledge of donor systems, regulatory environments, and operational delivery in complex markets. That expertise, footprint, and know-how are the firm's core assets that are established and ready to deploy.
