Professional Bio:

Luba Vangelova is a writer, editor, and communications consultant who has spent more than 20 years helping international development organizations explain their work clearly and persuasively to donors, partners, and the public. From 2005 to 2010, she was Director of Marketing and Communications at TechnoServe, where she oversaw all communications, led a rebranding effort, produced the organization's first integrated suite of marketing materials (including brochures, videos, annual reports, newsletters, and a new website), coached executives to be spokespeople, and developed style guides and templates used by field offices worldwide. She also edited donor proposals and worked closely with development colleagues on proposals and fundraising galas. Her work contributed to growth in revenue from $14 million to $55 million, and the acquisition of new donors such as Google, Coca-Cola, and the Gates Foundation. Since 2010, as an independent consultant, she has written and edited reports and case studies on infrastructure, technology, finance, business development, public-private partnerships, transportation, health, climate, urban issues, governance, environmental issues, energy, humanitarian assistance, and gender for the World Bank and International Finance Corporation. She has also advised various World Bank Group divisions on communications strategy, and produced a range of materials for other clients, such as Argidius Foundation and Fintrac. Luba's communications work builds on her background as a freelance journalist. Her articles have appeared in The New York Times, The Washington Post, Smithsonian, The Atlantic, and the South China Morning Post, among many other widely read newspapers, magazines, and websites. She is also a trained facilitator and an experienced interviewer and event moderator who led panel discussions and hosted a podcast.
